Tensions in the Middle East are increasing, creating a crisis that is affecting global stability. In recent months, conflicts in this region have received widespread attention from various parts of the world, especially related to issues such as fighting in Syria, tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli problem. In Syria, fighting between government forces and opposition groups continues. Despite several peace agreements being signed, violations continue to occur. Moreover, the intervention of Russia and the United States added to the complexity of the conflict. Russia is committed to supporting Bashar al-Assad’s regime, while the United States supports several moderate opposition groups. This creates new tensions on the ground and makes efforts to reach a peaceful resolution even more difficult. On the other hand, tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia are increasingly simmering. The two countries are involved in a proxy war in Yemen, where Iran supports the Houthi group while Saudi Arabia supports the internationally recognized government. This situation has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, in which millions of civilians require urgent assistance. The addition of economic sanctions against Iran also prompted a strong reaction from Tehran, which warned that it would not buckle under pressure. The Palestine-Israel issue also continues to be a source of tension. With illegal settlements continuing to increase in the West Bank and military aggression from Israel, the situation in the region is increasingly critical. Palestinian demonstrations are often met with violent actions by Israeli forces, causing many civilian casualties. The international community then demands to pay attention to this condition, while various peace initiatives often reach a dead end. Meanwhile, shifting alliances in the region also influence existing tensions. The normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab countries, such as the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, created negative reactions from Iran as well as pro-Palestinian groups who criticized the move. This adds a new layer of complexity to the geopolitical dynamics of the Middle East, where global powers such as the United States and Russia are starting to become more deeply involved. In addition, the rise of extremism and terrorism in the region is again a concern. Attacks carried out by groups such as ISIS and al-Qaeda show that despite setbacks for them, the threat still exists. Western countries are increasingly alert and strengthening their preventive measures, but the challenge to stability in the Middle East remains one of the main unresolved problems. Looking at all these developments, it is clear that tensions in the Middle East are a complex and multifaceted issue. It is hoped that various countries and international organizations can find solutions to stabilize this region, paying attention to the impact of the crisis on civil society. Diplomats and world leaders must work together seriously to maintain peace and security, not only in the Middle East, but throughout the world.
