A live news stream is a video broadcast of current events being streamed in real time. It can be viewed via online media sites and other platforms, such as mobile phones and televisions. Live news streams are often used for breaking news and to provide updates on ongoing events. Various news channels and international organisations offer live news streams, as well as many online sources.
Some of these streams can be accessed from the news websites of various broadcasters, such as ABC News Live in North America. These streams are also available on streaming TV services, such as Hulu and Roku. Other sources include global broadcasters such as Al Jazeera, CCTV of China, and Indus News. These streams are typically free to watch and can be viewed on mobile devices, computers, laptops, and tablets.
Whether it’s a crime scene or a community festival, a good story relies on solid reporting. Veteran reporters know how to use all their senses – listening for telling snippets of conversation and dialogue, observing images and details that develop character and place, and looking for patterns of behavior that inform the story. They’re also able to filter out what isn’t important. A flurry of detail can be distracting, but the humdrum of routine meetings or the mundane minutiae of parliamentary proceedings isn’t likely to grab readers.
To demonstrate this, ask students to interview a colleague about a recent experience with a government or regulatory agency. They should then select three quotes and write a short memo analyzing them. They should evaluate the way these quotes establish and support the dominant point of the story, as well as whether they attribute adequately, whether they provide any context for the news or incorporate secondary themes.
